TrustCall Product Updates: October 2024
We caught up with Chief Technology Officer David Asch to find out what the Product team has been up to and pose an exciting Q&A about what we can expect from TrustCall‘s next major release.
What has the Product team been up to in November?
The Product team’s November reminds me of an owner bringing home a puppy while their elderly dog lives out its final days. Some might think it cold of the owner to focus on the young pup at the expense of giving the old dog a dignified end. At the same time, meaningful connections sometimes develop between the young and the old.
Random philosophizing aside, KoolSpan’s old dog, version 10.17, was recently released and is now fully used by customers. Unlike the old dog, version 10.17 is a robust, feature-rich product, which the support team is committed to facilitating.
At the same time, the Product team is laser-focused on the imminent release of 11.0, the young, frisky pup full of potential.
A TrustCall 11.0 Q&A
Why are you calling it version 11.0 rather than 10.18?
The move from 10.17 to 11.0 reflects significant changes. For one, version 11.0’s User Interface (UI) will look significantly different. Taking a mobile-first approach, it will be familiar and intuitive to users of WhatsApp, Signal, and Telegraph. No, we’re not ripping off these competitors’ UIs—we acknowledge that many people use similar products in their personal lives and will find value in familiar UI gestures and workflow.
So, version 11.0 is about putting a prettier face on top of version 10?
Au contraire! In addition to the UI work, some heavy lifting is happening in the background. Here’s a peek at a few of the goodies coming to version 11.0:
- Externalization of strings and artifacts for easy translation and white-labeling.
- A Mac OS app, adding to Android, iOS, and Windows to make four client applications.
- Scaling of messaging and notification services to support huge customer implementations.
Okay, I’m excited about version 11.0! When can I take it for a spin?
We’re planning an early beta release in December, with a general release available in early 2025Q1.
As a TrustCall customer, I’m excited about the direction of the product. How can I make my voice heard and how can my suggestions see the light of day when the Product team has such a busy agenda?
Great question! First, the Product team is customer-focused and understands that our mission is to address customers’ pain points in the best manner for all. We are working to make more frequent, more minor releases using automated testing and an improved process so customer-driven product ideas get out the door fast.
